The device with the good camera is the camera — it does the whole job by itself. A second screen can join it at any time to show the live view from where you stand.

The code carries a one-time key that never leaves these two screens. The server only introduces the devices — it holds the connection details, encrypted, for two minutes and then deletes them. No photograph ever reaches it. Pictures stay on the camera and come straight here.
No camera streaming yet — connect one before re-framing.

Re-framing measures how far away you are from the spacing of your eyes and drives the zoom to match.
Start the camera to see whether this device exposes hardware zoom.
Tell it how far back the camera is and it sets the zoom for head-and-shoulders framing.
Sets the zoom for head-and-shoulders framing at that distance. Fine-tune against the crown and chin lines.
Whatever is brightest — a window, a lamp, a softbox. It decides which way you should turn, so the lit side of your face ends up furthest from the lens.
Sets the turn angle. You can still fine-tune it on the Advanced tab afterward.
A check that is off keeps measuring and keeps its readout — it just stops gating the green ring, the chime and auto-photo.
Measured on the camera from face landmarks — geometry only, nothing leaves the device. Shoulders can't be detected, so face turn stands in for the pose.
Goes back to the first screen and asks again. Nothing else is forgotten — the framing, the light and the guides are all kept.
Coverage is how much of you the square crop spans — 62 cm is head-and-shoulders. Everything here persists across reloads.
Emitted by the server once the file is on disk, so it only sounds when the capture actually saved.
The QR sits over the preview until a camera connects. This brings it back if you need to pair a different one.
The camera app processes better than a browser can. Upload the results here afterwards and the EXIF confirms which lens actually fired.
Sends a photo to Google's Gemini API over the network when you press Generate in the gallery — the one deliberate exception to this app's "never leaves the device" rule. Repo mode only, and only for a photo you explicitly choose.
Never shown back once saved — only whether one is set.
Picked from the AI panel in the gallery — editing here changes what every device sees there.
The page reloads into whichever you pick. Nothing else is forgotten — the framing, the light and the guides are all kept.
